COMMUNICATING SPACE
Mit kunstneriske projekt hedder Communicating Space, fordi det er netop det, jeg gør i mine arbejder. Med farver, mønstre og gentagelser går jeg i dialog med rummet og gennem rummet i dialog med beskueren.
Farve
Farven er en hjørnesten i min kunst. Det enkelte maleri såvel som stedsspecifikke indgreb trækker på en række kulturelle referencer, hvor overraskende farvekombinationer og skalaer giver plads til nye farveoplevelser.
Ornament
Farver forstås og bruges forskelligt i forskellige dele af verden. Symboler skifter betydning, og ornamenter ændrer udtryk. Det er dette betydningsbærende men upåagtede fællesrum af farve, mønstre, strukturer, som jeg dokumenterer i fotos og associerer til i papirværker og malerier. Mødet med nye steder og forskellige kulturer er centralt i min kunseriske praksis. Jeg stjæler og oversætter til samtidskunst fra upåagtede kulturelle hjørner.
Space
Mit arbejde knytter an til rum og arkitektur. På udstillinger tænkes installationen altid som en rumlig helhed, hvor værker og rum sammen danner mening. Mine in-situ-projekter er ikke blot tænkt og udført stedsspecifikt - de fremkalder og definerer stedet.
COMMUNICATING SPACE
My artistic project is called Communicating Space, as it pinpoints what I do in my works. Through color, patterns and repetition I engage in a dialogue with the space and through the space enter into a dialogue with the viewer.
Color
The color is a cornerstone in my art. The painting as well as site-specific coloristic installation draw on range of different cultural references, where surprising color combinations and scales leaves room for experiencing colors anew.
Ornament
Colors are used and understood differently in different parts of the world. Symbols hold different meaning and ornaments change expression. It is this significant, but often unnoticed common room of colors, patterns and structures; I document in my photos and refer to in my works on paper and in paintings. Encounting new places and different cultures, is central element of my artistic practice. I steal impressions from unheeded cultural corners of the world, translating them into contemporary art.
Space
My work is connected to space and architecture. In shows the installation is always thought of as spatial whole, where the works and the space create meaning in their cohesion. My in-situ projects are not only thought and carried out site-specific, but also holds the ability to define and generate the room.
